WALL TOWNSHIP – Crimson Knights alum and Shore Conference Player of the Year, Shane Haviland, recently announced his commitment to Elmira College, an NCAA Division III program that produced six professional skaters from its 2020 graduating class.
Haviland starred for Wall Township in his 2016-17 senior campaign, registering 55 points (36g, 19a) while lifting his club to its first Shore Conference Dowd Cup Championship, as well as the first state finals appearance in program history.
Following his scholastic career, Haviland spent time with the Springfield Jr. Blues in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), before returning to the shore area to continue competing at the NAHL level with the New Jersey Junior Titans.
While skating with the Middletown, NJ club, Haviland logged 43 points (11g, 33a) in 74 games over two seasons, and helped the Titans to Eastern Division-leading record of 38-13-0 before the 2019-20 season was discontinued due to COVID-19.
Haviland will join Elmira College for the 2020-21 season, and will join a Soaring Eagles team that skates to an overall record of 17-8-1 and a 13-5 mark in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference.
Haviland will be joined at Elmira College in the fall by Junior Titans teammate and assistant captain Danny Dimon, who announced his commitment in April.
Dimon, an Elmira, NY native, joined the Titans in 2018-19, and over the course of 88 career NAHL games registered 20 points (3g, 17a).
Haviland is the second Shore Conference alumnus to announce their NCAA commitment this season, following former Middletown South standout Gavin Gulash, who is headed to the Division I Hockey America Conference.
