Big things are happening at the Middletown Sports Complex. That much is clear by the framework for a second facility that was raised in May at the Harmony Road arena.
Rumors of a second sheet of ice have been circling for years, but last month the speculation was confirmed with announcement that the New Jersey Jr. Titans organization will host the inaugural OneHockey New Jersey event.
According to a media release circulated by the tournament group, the three-day OneHockey New Jersey tournament “will be played at the twin-sheet recreation complex opening in September 2019, an will serve as the first-ever March even in OneHockey’s 16-year history.”
OneHockey New Jersey is scheduled for March 8-10, 2020 and is billed as a “season-ending celebration spectacular…as well as a perfect prelude to most organizations’ 2020-2021 season tryouts.”
The tournament, which is an official sanctioned event by the USA Hockey Atlantic District, marks OneHockey’s Garden State debut.

“Junior Titans owner George Haviland has done some magnificent things in the hockey world, including bringing the first North American Hockey League junior franchise to the East Coast,” OneHockey CEO Sebastien Fortier said.
“I remember George bringing his Tier 1 team to our Philadelphia summer tournament in 2007, and he said something to me that I will never forget. He said, ‘What you guys do is incredible. It’s an experience; it’s the carnival of hockey tournaments. You need to offer this to lower-level teams such as A and AA.’ And now we offer tournaments to all levels thanks to George’s suggestion,” Fortier noted.

According to the release, additional details on OneHockey New Jersey will be released soon, but registration for the tournament is now open.
Teams are guaranteed four games and the event is open to AA and A programs at the U16, U14, U12, U10 levels, as well as A and B U8 half ice programs.
